Four major weekend-long highway closures coupled with a city of Seattle ramp closure and a Seahawks game Saturday night could lead to significantly longer travel times on key Puget Sound corridors this weekend.

Drivers are advised to plan ahead, find alternate routes and plan an extra hour of travel time.

Crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close all lanes of three highways to install large culverts. State Route 167 in Renton and the state Route 520 floating bridge will close Friday night, Aug. 10, and reopen Monday morning, Aug. 13.

State Route 9 in Clearview  will close Friday night, Aug 10, and reopen Sunday morning, Aug 12.

Crews also will demolish state Route 520’s Bellevue Way overpass and add new lanes at the state Route 92/ state route 9 intersection in Lake Stevens.

Seattle Department of Transportation crews will close the ramp to 85th Street from southbound Interstate 5 for 17 days to pave, starting Friday, Aug. 10.

Low water levels, warm weather and generally lighter traffic make August weekends the ideal time to complete major construction in western Washington.
