Flood watch issued for much of western Washington this weekend

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a flood watch for portions of western Washington, including the following counties: Grays Harbor, King, Lewis, Mason, Pierce and Thurston

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a flood watch for portions of western Washington, including the following counties: Grays Harbor, King, Lewis, Mason, Pierce and Thurston.

The notice is in effect from Saturday afternoon through Monday evening.

A pacific storm will bring rain and warming temperatures to the area midday Saturday through Sunday morning. It will produce rainfall of 2-4 inches in the Cascades and foothills from about King County southward, and 2-3 inches of rain over the southern Olympic Mountains and the coast.

The lowlands can expect about 1-2 inches of rain from about Seattle southward. In addition, the snow level will be rising to 6000 to 7000 feet, making the majority of the precipitation falling in the form of rain.
