Tangled hair
The mother of a 15-year-old girl in Black Diamond called Mountain View Fire and Rescue at about 3:30 p.m. March 23 because her daughter’s hair became tangled in a fan. The girl was trying to dry her hair quickly. The fire department was call to disassemble the fan to remove the girl’s hair. Engine 98 arrived on location, safely removed her hair that was tightly woven around the shaft of the fan. The girl did not receive any injuries from this incident.
The mother was going to drive the girl and fan to the fire department. She was told to call 911 and report it was not an emergency and have the firefighters come to her house for an aid service call.
Wildland firefighters needed
Mountain View Fire and Rescue is looking for individuals interested in becoming volunteer wildland firefighters. This group of firefighters will respond to brush fires in King County and occasionally get deployed to large wildfires around the state. Individuals interested do not need any firefighting experience, but must pass a background check and be in good physical shape. For more info call Tim Perciful at 253-735-0284.
