Take dad to Lake Wilderness Saturday
There will be a special guided walk through of the gardens, forest and special areas of interest at Lake Wilderness Arboretum. The event will take place on Father’s Day, Saturday, June 17th. It will start at 10 a.m. and will last about an hour to an hour and a half.
Those who attend will be able to learn about plants that grow in the Pacific Northwest, some history about the park and enjoy a quiet and beautiful day to welcome in the summer.
The tour is free to the public and will stat at the gazebo on the Arboretum’s grounds. The address is 22520 SE 148th, Maple Valley 98038.

Senior commits to play at George Fox University
Logan Hanbey, a senior at Rainier Christian High School, signed his letter of intent to play football at George Fox University in Oregon.
Hanbey was valedictorian and he was also named Defensive Player of the Year for basketball and Most Valuable Player for football.
Kiwanis blood drive June 29
From noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 29 the Black Diamond Kiwanis Club.
The drive will be closed for 2 to 3 p.m. for lunch.
The drive will be held at Black Diamond Square at 30741 3rd Ave.

Maple Valley resident earns Eagle Scout award
Cameron Masters, 17, earned his Eagle Scout ranking on May 22. Masters is part of Boy Scouts of America Troop 711 and has been scouting for 10 years.
While in Boy Scouts he has held many positions including patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader.
To receive his Eagle Scout ranking, he had to earn 21 merit badges and complete a community service project. His project was creating a kiosk to display a course map at the first hold at Gaffney’s Grove Disc Golf Course at Lake Wilderness Park.
