Come join the free family-oriented concert and movie at Lake Wilderness Park on the Hawaiian themed family night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21 and see the new Lake Wilderness Park interpretive signs unveiled.

Six new signs chronicle the historical and cultural character of Lake Wilderness Park over the past 130-years and promote the protection and preservation of that legacy and the Park’s natural environment.

The signage project was funded by a grant from 4Culture of King County and by the City of Maple Valley with an in-kind grant match provided by the Maple Valley Historical Society. The project was the inspiration of the Lake Wilderness Citizen Advisory Committee, a City Council-appointed committee who provides oversight of aquatic plant management and advancement of education and stewardship activities. The signage design and illustration was done by Sandra Noel of Noel Design LLC.

The Pookela-Street-Band will kick off the evening at 6:30 pm with its Jamaican reggae and Hawaiian Island style rhythms. The signs will be unveiled during intermission, at 7:30 pm. THE LEGO MOVIE, rated PG, begins at 8:30. Full concessions; burgers, popcorn, candy and more will be available for purchase.
