“I’m pleased, but to me the process is not over until November,” Flynn said. “It’s one more step forward.”

Flynn said he “really didn’t know what to expect. I thought I would be in the top two.”

Flynn served on the City Council for 10 years before losing to Layne Barnes for Position No. 3.

Allison said, “ I was very pleased to see the community agree with the fact we need change.”

The candidate stated votes were still to be counted, but he was happy to come in “a solid second.”

Smith said, “The people spoke and sent a clear message they want appropriate and clear leadership. I appreciate being able to serve four years and I want to say (to the people) thank you for the opportunity to serve as council member and deputy mayor.”

He said he would wait until more votes were counted to officially concede the race, but he stated,”I will probably be supporting Bill Allison. He is the positive change we need.”

In the Black Diamond City Council race for Position No. 4 William Saas tops the group with 41 percent and 176 votes, Jim Kuzaro is second with 38 percent with 163 votes and Paula Koch-Boyd is third at nearly 19 percent with 80 votes. Five ballots were write-in.
