King County election officials said voting generally went smoothly in Tuesday’s general election.
Minor problems were reported from a few polling places, but everyone was able to vote, according to Sherrill Huff, county elections director.
In addition, tabulation machines at the election department headquarters in Renton were down for two hours in the morning because a piece of hardware that connects the ballot-counting equipment to the central server wasn’t working. The problem was corrected and by 1 p.m., 32 of the 38 machines were operating and ballot counting resumed, Huff reported.
About 10,000 ballots per hour were being counted, she said.
Outside of those issues, early-morning rain didn’t “appear to be keeping anyone away” from polling places, said Huff.
