Dunn delivers retired Metro van to nonprofit
King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn recently delivered a retired Metro van to Vine Maple Place.
The nonprofit serving south King County that helps break the generational cycle of homelessness will use this van to transport clients and their children to weekly meetings or other activities, according to a media release. It will also be used to take clients to job fairs, interviews, appointments, court appearances, the release added.
The vanpool program helps by donating these retired vans to local community programs to help provide transportation for those in needed.
Interested organizations can contact Dunn at 206-477-1009 or by email at reagan.dunn@kingcounty.gov for more information on applying for a vehicle.
Nominate someone who needs vehicle care
Beginning a holiday tradition, Kent-based Kyler’s Auto Detail is asking the public to nominate a friend, family member, coworker or neighbor whose car needs a little — or a lot — of love.
“We want to hear their story and why you think they deserve it,” said Kyler Martin, owner and operator. “Your nomination will remain anonymous. We will be picking one person to do a total revamp on their vehicle. Anything it needs, you name it, and we will fix it at 100 percent no cost to them. We will provide them a rental car for as long as it takes us to get the vehicle back to the condition they deserve. We have partnered with local paint/body, upholstery and mechanic shops.”
Lind’s Custom Meats will provide free smoked turkey, and Ristrettos Coffee & Wine will provide all sides and desserts to be delivered to the family on Christmas Eve.
“We have always believed in helping and collaborating with our local community,” Martin said. “As a small local business, we strive to stand out from the crowd and give back to those around us.”
Please send nominations to: contact@kylersautodetail.com, and include a name and number and the nominee’s name and why they deserve a car makeover. Nominations will be accepted up to Dec. 20.
