Dead man found in truck of missing Renton man located in a ravine off Cedar Grove Road Thursday

The truck belongs to a 54-year-old man from Renton who was reported missing by his girlfriend Thursday after he did not return from work Wednesday.

A man was found dead in a missing person’s pickup near Maple Valley Thursday, according to a release from the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The truck belongs to a 54-year-old man from Renton who was reported missing by his girlfriend Thursday after he did not return from work Wednesday. According to the release, family members used the missing man’s cell phone GPS to locate his pickup down a steep, heavily wooded ravine about 200 feet off of Cedar Grove Road.

The missing man’s family called authorities. Firefighters who responded to the scene found a dead man partially inside the truck. It was not clear Friday morning if the man who was also the owner of the truck.

According to the release, KCSO detectives who specialize in major accident reconstruction spent close to seven hours evaluating the circumstances which led to the truck leaving the road.

The King County Medical Examiner will identify the man in the truck and determine his cause of death.
