Name that Seuss Contest
Ages 4 to 12. In honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday! One lucky child who correctly matches all of the Dr. Seuss book characters pictured to the correct book titles will win a copy of the book The Lorax and two tickets to the new movie. Pick up an entry form at the Information Desk. Entries must be turned in by 9 p.m. on Feb. 29. Winners will be announced on March 1.

Hula: Ke Liko A’e O Lei Lehua Dance Troupe

Hula dance provides a wonderful way to experience Hawaiian and Polynesian culture. The halau hula (hula school) Ke Liko A’e O Lei Lehua in Kent, under the direction of Kumu Hula Claire Cortez, will bring dancers and musicians to inform and entertain.
Paul Gauguin and the Search for Paradise

Opening in February 2012, The Seattle Art Museum presents a blockbuster exhibit “Gauguin and Polynesia: An Elusive Paradise,” which pairs 60 of Gauguin’s paintings and sculpture with Polynesian native arts. As a preview, Susan Olds presents a slide lecture covering Gauguin’s years in Paris and the Pacific Islands.
Friends of the Library Book Sale
Saturday, Feb. 25 and Sunday, Feb. 26. During library open hours. Purchase used books, videos and CDs at bargain prices. Proceeds support library programs and events. Donations welcome.
