Covington father barricaded in bedroom with gun ends with man surrendering | Lockdown lifted from area schools

King County Sheriff's deputies surrounded a home in Covington today when a father was reported to have barricaded himself inside with a gun. The home is located in the 26700 block of 191st Place S.E., the Timberlane development.

King County Sheriff’s deputies surrounded a home in Covington today when a father was reported to have barricaded himself inside with a gun.

The home is located in the 26700 block of 191st Place S.E., the Timberlane development.

Dispatch received a call at 1:35 p.m. from the man’s wife.

According to Sgt. John Urquhart, spokesman for the sheriff’s department, the son and father had been in a fight. Following the fight the father went into his bedroom. The son reported he heard his father loading a gun.

The son left the house and the man’s wife called 911.

Urquhart said sheriff’s deputies surrounded the home and locked down the surrounding schools in case the father “got out into the neighborhood.”

The father surrendered at 3:15 p.m.

According to Urquhart the man will likely be charged with fourth degree domestic violence assault.
