Children’s helmets for snowboarding, bicycling and skateboarding are on sale in the MultiCare clinic in Covington as part of a non-profit program organized by Mary Bridge Center for Childhood Safety.

Mary Bridge, part of MultiCare Health System, offers the helmets for $15 for snowboarding/skiing, $7 for biking and $10 for skateboarding. They can be purchased any Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the clinic’s Health Reflections boutique. They previously were sold only one day a month.

MultiCare officials noted that each year, approximately 50,000 children – most of them between 5 and 14 years old – are treated in the emergency room at Mary Bridge in Tacoma for injuries resulting from winter recreation activities.
