The Covington Arts Commission will be unveiling the city’s first public art piece on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. at the Covington Aquatic Center Plaza, located at 18230 SE 240th St. This event is open to the public and will include refreshments.

Attendees will get the first look at a sculpture that is being leased for one year by the Covington Arts Commission. The sculpture is made of recycled steel oil tanks. It will be placed on a plaza in front of the Covington Aquatic Center. The sculpture will be visible from 240th Street, which is in close proximity to Covington Community Park and Tahoma High School.

The artist, Ben Dye, is a native of Saskatchewan, Canada, and lives in Oregon. He  was first introduced to the welding torch when he entered the world of commercial diving.
