The debate for City Council Position No. 2 sponsored by The Maple Valley Reporter went off as planned at 7 p.m. Thursday at Tahoma School District Central Services Center, which is also known as the boardroom.

The candidates were the incumbent Glenn Smith, seeking his second term, Jim Flynn, who served on the City Council for 10 years before losing to Layne Barnes for Position No. 3 and Bill Allison, a first-time candidate.
The event was be moderated by Tahoma High social studies teacher Barry Fountain.
Members of the Maple Valley Rotary Club, Patti and Dale Jenson, acted as timers.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. There will be an opportunity for audience members to have their questions presented to the candidates by the moderator.
