County Council gives it unanimous approval to the new name for Fire District

Fire District 44 to become Mountain View Fire and Rescue

The Metropolitan King County Council has given its unanimous approval to officially changing the name of Fire District 44 to Mountain View Fire and Rescue.

“Officially changing the name from Fire District 44 to Mountain View Fire and Rescue has been a long time in coming,” said councilman Reagan Dunn.  “Mountain View Fire and Rescue does an outstanding job serving the residents of the district and I am happy to support this legislation per the request of their board of commissioners.”

The proposal to change the name of Fire District 44 was first proposed in June of this year by the Commissioners of the District. This name change will make the district more recognizable to the residents of the Fire District.

“We protect 70 square miles serving Auburn, Kent, Black Diamond and Enumclaw addresses,” said District Chief Greg Smith. “Although we have been using the name Mountain View for twenty years, this will now make that name official.”
