The city of Maple Valley community lighting and holiday event is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 at Lake Wilderness Park, lodge and arboretum. You’ll experience thousands of festive lights, creative displays, refreshments and familiar sounds of the holidays.
Walk or take the free rides through the display on one of the Holiday Express trackless trains. Holiday entertainment for the evening will be provided by The Dickens Carolers and Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra. The Greater Maple Valley Community Center’s Children and Family Services will be hosting a hands-on crafts area for the youths and their adults. Outside Mayor Noel Gerken will welcome all at 6:10 p.m. followed by the brilliant lights going on and the arrival of Santa on the Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety Holiday Engine at 6:20 p.m. with a candy cane and picture opportunity.
Parking for the public will be available in the lighted lower main parking lot by the beach with a lighted walkway or catch the shuttle train from 5 to 6 p.m. to the activities happening in and around the lodge
Canned food, new toys and cash donations for the Maple Valley Food Bank will be accepted during the event.
