There’s a new addition to the Reporter Web site — blogs.
Dennis Box and Kris Hill will both write staff blogs. Hill’s will continue on the same lines as her recent columns about her pregnancy, the challenges of being diabetic, and eventually being a first time mom. It has been dubbed “Baby Babble.”
Box’s column, “Slow Simmer,” will focus on the love/hate relationship he has with food. He loves food but food hates him.
On a more serious note, community members are welcome and encouraged to blog, too.
A number of candidates up for local and regional offices have set up blogs, including Glenn Smith, deputy mayor in Maple Valley, one of Smith’s challengers Bill Allison and Stanette Marie Rose, who is running against incumbent Victoria Laise Jonas.
But there’s plenty of room for more. Bloggers could be teachers, coaches, musicians, police officers or firefighters, students, stay at home moms or dads, volunteers at the Greater Maple Valley Community Center or the Maple Valley Creative Arts Council, the Covington or Maple-Valley Black Diamond chambers of commerce. Those are just some examples.
Get creative and submit your blog idea to Box via e-mail, dbox@maplevalleyreporter.com or call 425-432-1209 ext 5050 and the staff will get you set up.
Please have a title, a description for the blog, a photo or image for the blog’s avata, and the name of the author. It will help if your idea has a tight focus on a specific topic with a distinctive voice. Frequent posts, daily or two or three times a week, are ideal.
Community blogs will not be edited, but if they contain inappropriate content they will be removed by The Reporter staff.
