Sen. Claudia Kauffman, Democrat, conceded to Republican Joe Fain in the race for the 47th District state Senate race as did Dino Rossi to Sen. Patty Murray in the U.S. Senate race.
Thursdays election results showed Fain continuing with an insurmountable lead of about 56 percent and 17,038 votes to Kauffman’s 45 percent and 13,672.
In the House races in the 47th District, 10-year incumbent Rep. Geoff Simpson, D-Covington, appears to have lost his bid for reelection to Republican Mark Hargrove for the Position No. 1 seat.
Hargrove leads with 57 percent, 17,365 to Simpson’s 43 percent with 13,045 votes.
Incumbent Pat Sullivan, D-Covington, has a commanding lead in his race for Position No. 2 with 56 percent, 16,932 to Rodrigo Yanez, Republican at 44 percent and 13,198.
Murray has won a fourth term in the U.S. Senate. Republican challenger Rossi conceded the race tonight following the release of the Thursday election results.
Murray was leading with 929,345 votes and about 51 percent to Rossi at 49 percent and 884,138.
Both Rossi and Kauffman sent e-mail letters conceding the race and Fain sent out an e-mail thanking Kauffman for her service.
