City of Maple Valley to open a cooling location to keep citizens out of the heat

Temperatures are forecasted to get up to 92 degrees on Saturday in the Covington and Maple Valley areas

City Manager David Johnston announced today that a cooling location will be open Friday and Saturday to ensure that Maple Valley residents have a safe place to stay cool during the heat that is forecasted to hit the area this weekend.

The announcement read, “Residents, especially senior citizens, are strongly advised to take advantage of this cooling station, if needed. Unfortunately, no pets will be permitted and no refreshments will be provided. Please bring your own water.”

The cooling station will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 26 and 27 at Lake Wilderness Lodge in the Maple Room. The lodge is located at 22500 248th Street, Maple Valley.
