City Council and mayor’s seats up for grabs in Covington and Black Diamond

Political races for the cities of Covington and Black Diamond are drawing candidates with the deadline today (Friday).

In Covington four seats are up for election, and all the incumbents have entered their names for the positions. No challengers had filed as of Wednesday when the paper was sent to the printer.

For Position No. 2, Councilman Mark Lanza will be running, Councilman David Lucavish is running for No. 4 and Wayne Snoey in No. 5. Councilman Jim Scott, Sr. filed for seat No. 6.

Black Diamond’s races include two council seats and the mayor’s chair.

Councilwoman Rebecca Olness has filed to run for mayor, and the incumbent, Howard Botts, also filed to run for another term.

Incumbent Councilman Geoff Bowie was listed for seat No. 2.

In seat No. 4 William Saas has filed. The seat is currently held by Olness.

Candidates have until today (Friday) to file for office with the King County Elections office.
