Candidates have thrown their hats into the ring for Covington, Maple Valley and Black Diamond City Council races.
Mark Lanza, who has served on the Covington City Council for several years, is running unopposed in his race for re-election to Position 2. Lanza is seeking his fourth term on the City Council.
Joseph Cimaomo, Jr., filed to challenge David Lucavish for Position 4. Cimaomo ran unsuccessfully in 2011 against Marlla Mhoon. Lucavish was originally appointed to the council in 2008.
Jim Scott filed for re-election to Position 6. He is being challenged by Zbigniew George Tomalik. Scott, who is seeking his third term on the council, was first elected in 2005.
Filing began May 13 and wrapped up May 17.
In Maple Valley Mayor Bill Allison is running unopposed for council Position No. 2 and Councilwoman Erin Weaver is running unopposed for Position No. 4. Leslie Burberry will run against Victoria Jonas for Position No. 6. Jonas was first elected in 2000 and is currently serving her fourth term on the city council.
Meanwhile, in Black Diamond, Janie Edelman had filed for Position No. 3. Edelman filed to run for the seat she was appointed to in March, which has two years left on the term. She filled a seat vacated by Joe May in February. Patrick Nelson will run against Edelman for Position 3.
In addition, Mayor Rebecca Olness is up for re-election. Olness filed to run for a second term and when the filing period ended had two challengers: Dave Gordon and Keith C. Watson.
Position number two is also up for election and while Craig Goodwin opted not to seek re-election, Erika Morgan and Bill Roth will vie for the seat.
Carol Benson is running for re-election for Position 4 and will be challenged by Shawn Oglesbee.
Reagan Dunn, who lives just outside the Maple Valley city limits, filed for re-election to King County Council. Appointed to serve in 2005 to fill Rob McKenna’s seat, Dunn won election later that year and was re-elected to a second term in 2009.
Dunn has two challengers: Kristina Macomber and Shari Song.
