Former Tahoma student, graduates from Air Force basic training

Lauren Ledford, a recent Tahoma High School graduate, has recently graduated from the United States Air Force.

Ledford completed her basic training at the Lackland Air Force Base in Texas on Dec. 23.

Lake Wilderness building design made of legos

Thousdands and thousands of LEGOs came together to make a model of the new Lake Wilderness Elementary.

FORMA Construction Company decided to make a model of the school out of LEGOs to engage students and the community. The model has helped students feel more connected to the construction of the their new school. It also teaches them that what they learn in school can be used in life.

A library, playground and even a school bus parked in front of the building are included in the model.

The model is on display in the Lake Wilderness Elementary school library where students can easily interact with it. Lake Wilderness is the largest elementary school in the state, with 1500 students.

Blood drives coming to the area

Three locations for blood drives in February have been selected.

The first will take place at Kentlake High School starting at 8 a.m. on Feb. 9. The drive will run until 1 p.m.

From 7 a.m. to noon on Feb. 18, the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church will hold the second blood drive.

And finally at the Covington Safeway from 3 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 21 the Bloodmoblie will be there in the parking lot.
