Auditions scheduled for Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra

Auditions are scheduled for 3-7 p.m. Aug. 25, 26, and 30 and 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 1 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 23855 S.E. 216th St. Maple Valley. There is a $10 fee for auditions. Students should prepare a two minute solo piece that reflects their playing abilities and will be expected to sight read. Students wishing to audition for debut orchestra may prepare a one minute solo or an excerpt from a band or orchestra book.

The Maple Valley Youth Symphony offers four orchestra programs: beginning strings, debut orchestra, philharmonic orchestra and symphony orchestra.

This season is shaping up to be orchestra’s biggest and brightest season with exciting performance opportunities including local area events like the Maple Valley tree lighting, Waltz Gala Ball, the Seattle Thunderbirds game and the Fourth of July fireworks,
