A crash on state Route 18 at about 3 a.m. Sunday, June 28, resulted in two injured teenagers, one was transported to Harborview and the other was taken from the scene by her parents.
A 16-year-old boy from Auburn was transported to Harborview and a 16-year-old Covington girl was taken by her parents according to a Washington State Patrol report.
The driver, an 18-year-old male from Tacoma, was not injured. According to the report the driver was traveling at a “high-rate of speed” going west on SR 18. He lost control of the car and hit a guardrail at SR 516.
The driver has been charged with vehicular assault according to the state patrol and booked into the King County jail. The crash is still being investigated. The state patrol report noted drugs or alcohol were involved.
A third passenger, a 16-year-old Maple Valley girl, was not injured.
