Another winter blast that dumped anywhere from three to six inches on South King County cities like Covington and Maple Valley forced local school districts to take another snow day Friday.
Both the Kent and Tahoma school districts decided to cancel class late Thursday afternoon, joining dozens of other districts, colleges and universities posting closure notifications on www.schoolreport.org yesterday.
Kent students can look forward to making up the lost days, according to information on the district’s Web site, in June while Tahoma has make up days set aside starting on Jan. 26 which is originally slated as the day off between semesters. In addition, days have been set aside in May to make up time lost due to snow related cancellations.
Additional information about the school districts’ policies regarding inclement weather is available through their Web sites, which are linked to the Reporter’s online edition.
Green River Community College also canceled classes on Friday.
Temperatures in the Covington, Maple Valley and Black Diamond areas have dipped well below freezing and are predicted by weather forecasters to stay near or below that mark into next week.
