Alcohol suspected in May 16 rollover accident on Covington Sawyer Road | Black Diamond Fire Report

Mountain View Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a rollover accident on the Covington Sawyer Road about 4 p.m. May 16. While the department was responding an off duty firefighter/EMT from the department arrived on scene and began providing aid. The witnesses said the Suburban was weaving on the road then rolled two times before landing back on its wheels. The crew witness that the woman driver had a decreased level of consciousness and possibly alcohol on their breath. This incident is under investigation.

Graduating class of volunteer firefighters

• The department had 18 recruits graduate the academy where they learned the fundamentals of becoming a firefighter. The new volunteers will continue their training that will include basic hazardous material training and emergency medical technician school.

Pet First Aid Class

• Tim Perciful will be offering a pet first aid class at the Black Diamond Community Center 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. All money raised from this class will go to Chimpanzee Sanctuary NW in Cle Elum.
