Piloting the float, which has been in the city’s parade for more than five decades, was former Mayor Gomer Evans.
The final restoration of the float was completed by Evans.
Smith represents the 9th Congressional District and Schrier represents the 8th Congressional District.
The district includes Kent, Covington and Auburn.
After voting no twice, 59% of union members approved the latest contract.
