Over $20,000 is available this year from the Washington Wine Industry Foundation for students studying viticulture, enology or related disciplines. Applications are due on June 1. The Foundation has awarded over $110,000 in scholarships since 2001.
The scholarships available this year include:
- Horse Heaven Hills Wine Growers Scholarship
Two scholarships of $1,500 to students who are residents of Benton, Yakima or Klickitat counties. The scholarship was created by industry members dedicated to promoting education of grape growing and wine production.
• Walter J. Clore Scholarship
Established in 1997 by the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers, scholarships range from $500 to $2,000 in honor of Dr. Clore’s grape research and lifetime achievements in viticulture and enology.
• The Foundation Scholarship
The Foundation Scholarship Fund was established last year as an endowed fund by the Board of Directors along with the families and friends of Charles Lill, Michael Manz, Glenn Coogan, and John Farmer. Number of awards is determined annually with this year offering five $3,000 scholarships.
