Tahoma Robotics team Bear Metal wins Industrial Design Award at Key Arena | Slide Show

Bear Metal, the Tahoma Robotics team, competed in the 2010 Microsoft Seattle Regional FIRST Robotics Competition at Key Arena March 27-28. The team won the Industrial Design Award with its robot during the competition.

The students built a robot that scored goals with a soccer ball. Each match lasted 2 minutes, 15 seconds and the robots navigated over bumps.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology,) is a not-for-profit organization founded by inventor Dean Kamen to celebrate science and technology through robotics competitions worldwide. FIRST combines the excitement of sport with science and technology to create a unique varsity sport of mind that helps high school students discover the rewarding and engaging process of innovation and engineering.
