In case you weren’t already familiar with the mission, Corner of Love is an organization made to help the people of Nicaragua. It has a family program to help them get things they need, like clothes, housing, school and many other things.
In February, I will be going down with a team of people including my mom, Elisa, and brother, Ben. There, we will be helping in medical clinics that will be giving care to Nicaraguans who wouldn’t be able to get it otherwise.
This will be my third time going to Nicaragua. I went once when I was 8, and then again when I was 10. The first time, I collected books in Spanish for the kids. That was really fun for me, because I’ve always loved reading, and seeing a bunch of kids reading Harry Potter, one of my favorites, was really cool.
This time, we have several supply drives going. My mom, another Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra member, and I are doing a supply drive at MVYSO rehearsals. In just one night, we got a whole bin full of things. It was great. There are many other supply drives being held. Local scouts are participating in “Scouting for Supplies,” and Ben is collecting things in his class.
This promises to be a great trip. I’m really looking forward to going back. However, supplies are still needed and you can help.
