Hold on to your hats, quilters, a new quilt shop is coming to historic downtown Kent. According to Alice Marshall, owner, Running Stitch Fabrics is slated to open May 3.

Hold on to your hats, quilters, a new quilt shop is coming to historic downtown Kent.  According to Alice Marshall, owner, Running Stitch Fabrics is slated to open May 3.

The shop will offer a variety of quilting, sewing and home-décor classes as well as contemporary fabrics and notions.

Alice said, “I want my customers to feel comfortable and my shop to be a place where shoppers can hang-out and have fun. My focus will be to act as a resource and assist customers when they need help selecting fabrics or have questions about sewing and quilting.”

Alice hopes customers will frequent her business as well as other shops and near-by restaurants in the historic downtown Kent district.

Among her long-range plans, Alice hopes to have an on-site long-arm quilting machine by the end of May that will be available for customers to rent on an hourly basis. Alice’s focus will be contemporary fabrics, including batiks and blenders along with cutting-edge supplies and tools. For more information on Running Stitch Fabrics, see the box below.

On another note, due to some major life-style changes at our home, I will be joining you less frequently. I still hope to write columns or articles but with less frequency.

Watch for an article next month either on the Kent Reporter’s web site or in the Kent Reporter about Evergreen Piecemaker’s upcoming quilt show.

The 2011 quilt show will be held at Kent Commons on May 21st and 22nd at Kent Commons so mark your calendars now!

Happy Stitching!
