National Night Out draws large crowd in Maple Valley | Slide Show

The Maple Valley Police Department along with King County Sheriff's deputies and Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety firefighters gathered at communities around Maple Valley to celebrate National Night Out. The annual nationwide event is a crime and drug prevention event meant to raise awareness in the fight against crime and promote partnerships with the community and police officers.

The annual nationwide event is a crime and drug prevention event meant to raise awareness in the fight against crime and promote partnerships with the community and police officers.

A large gathering at Glacier Valley Community Park enjoyed a visit from King County Sheriff’s office Guardian One helicopter and the sheriff’s department swat vehicle. Groups of kids climbed all over the armored car.

Rep. Dave Reichert, R-Auburn, representing the 8th Congressional District made an appearance along with City Council members and city officials.

Police Chief Michelle Bennett directed games for the kids and spent much of the evening enjoying the community event.
