Check out these summer arts programs for kids at the Maple Valley Arts Center.
•Summer Painting Camp, taught by Vicki Lewis, for kids 5-8 and 9-12 years old,
Aug. 17-20.
Students will work with acrylic and watercolor paints. They will learn how to mix colors, make tints, create atmospheric perspective and sillhouttes, as well as create their own composition.
Students will have three or four finished pieces at the end of the camp. Fee is $55.

•Summer music
theatre camp, a weeklong musical camp for students in sixth through ninth grade, July 20-23 and July 27-30.
Taught by Earlene DeLeon and Nancy Gregory, students will be able to choose solo songs and learn one group song from the
Disney show “Mulan”
during the first week or
“Les Miserables” in week two.
They will also learn how Broadway actors perform songs on stage using gestures and movements to tell a story, among other key skills. A performance is set for
7 p.m. July 24 for the first week and at 7 p.m. July 31 for the second week.
