Green River College is bringing workshops, lectures and for-credit courses to the Covington area.
These are free and open to the public. The workshops, lectures will be hosted at the Covington Library.
No RSVP or library membership is required to attend.
According to the college, the “hybrid for-credit classes combine the face-to-face classroom experience with the flexibility of online learning, allowing students the freedom needed to fit their schedules.”
Classes and lectures at the library include:
• “Parents just don’t understand!” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 18 — instructor Joy Crawford will discuss changes adolescents experience and what that means for people in their lives.
• Stills in the Hills: Prohibition in the Puget Sound region from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 9 — learn about the history of prohibition in the local communities presented by Mark Thomason.
• Mass incarceration in the land of the free from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 20 — instructor Kate Lawson will discuss some policies and history surrounding mass incarceration in the United States.
In-person classes will be held Mondays and Wednesdays at Kentwood High School.
Spring evening classes at Kentwood include:
• Hybrid course CMST& 220, public speaking — 5 credits, Mondays and Wednesdays 7:30 to 9 p.m.
• Hybrid course BTAC 100, fundamentals/computers — 5 credits, Mondays and Wednesdays 6 to 7 p.m.
