In February, John Ewell of Maple Valley, was in a car accident that changed his life.
Friends and family of Ewell are hosting a silent auction fundraiser from 1-5 p.m., Saturday, June 25, at Maple Valley Presbyterian Church to help with his medical bills associated with injuries suffered in the accident.
His car slipped in icy conditions and hit a telephone pole head-on. The pole broke and landed on Ewell’s head. He escaped his smoke-filled car and landed in the road.
The trauma from the accident has left him dealing with chronic pain and nausea and a bone spur is pressing on his spinal cord. This has limited his ability to participate and function in daily living activities and spend quality time with his family.
He has not been able to follow through with recommended surgery and physical therapy since he does not have health insurance,
Ewell and his wife, Shannon, have four children: Tucker, 12, Dixie, 11, Daisy, 9, and Harley, 8.
He is a prison chaplain and his wife is a preschool teacher.
