This Thursday’s concert will feature one some of the state’s best music makers.
The award winning Darren Motamedy will take the Lake Wilderness Park stage Thursday in what could be his last performance in Maple Valley. The concert is scheduled for 6:30–8:30 p.m. at Lake Wilderness Park’s natural amphitheatre. Concert goers can bring their own outdoor chairs, blankets and umbrellas. The concert goes on rain or shine.
Motamedy, the 2008 Kent School District teacher of the year for his work as a band instructor has lived in the Maple Valley Kent area for 41 years but has moved this summer to Las Vegas to teach band and jazz band at a middle school there.
The Dos FC ’99 Girls Soccer Team will be selling concessions at the concert as part of their efforts to raise funds for their state cup trip. They will also be collecting school supplies for the Maple Valley Food Bank at each of the next two concerts July 29 and August 12. Team spokesperson Pam Stokes said “We would love to bring in a huge donation to the food bank so everyone, please bring supplies to the park and fill our donation box”.

• 5:30–8:30 p.m. Sunday, August 22 – annual Burgers and Blues Day – “Night Train Blues Band.”

• 6–8:45 p.m. Thursday, August 26 – Family Night Beach Party Theme, presented by Jensen’s All State Insurance at Four Corners.
The concert will be a Jimmy Buffett Tribute with Dave Calhoun followed by a family movie under the stars, “Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs.”
Concessions and grilled burgers and hot dogs will be available for purchase as a fundraiser for The Maple Valley Presbyterian Church.
