This quarter, bands from Dace’s Rock ‘n’ More Music Academy will show off their chops at two shows, one in Maple Valley on Friday, and a second show in Seattle on Saturday.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Friday for the Rockcital at the Maple Valley Creative Arts Center, 23220 Maple Valley Highway Southeast, Suite 15. Tickets are $7 at the door for this show.

Saturday the show starts at 4 p.m. at El Corazon, 109 Eastlake Ave. E., in Seattle. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Rockcitals feature bands in the non-profit music school’s “Rockology” class. Phil Bowden, drumming instructor, came up with the concept for the class which is now the school’s most popular offering.

Students in the Rockology course learn how to polish their acts onstage so they can take it on the road. The Rockcital is the culminating event of the quarter giving students a considerably cooler version of the recitals students at a stuffy, exclusive music school would offer because they turn into big rock shows.

Sponsors help cover the costs of not only putting on the Rockcitals, but also offsetting the prices of tuition for classes and include private instrument and voice lessons at the nearly five-year-old Maple Valley-based music school.
