Covington Days Parade kicks off Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Covington Days Parade, a centerpiece of the community festival, will start at 11 a.m. today. Here’s the route: Start at Southeast 271st Street and 168th Place Southeast, head east to the MultiCare clinic at 17700 Southeast 272nd Street.

Most of the free, three-day festival – it started Friday and continues through Sunday – will be staged on the clinic grounds. Live music and other entertainment for all ages, vendor and information booths throughout the weekend, and a community picnic are on tap. A complete schedule is available at www.ci.covington.wa.us, but here are some highlights:

• Street/sidewalk chalk art: 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday in front of the Wal-Mart store on Southeast 270th Street, show your chalk artistry. Chalk provided.

• Saturday entertainment: Reptile Man, 1:30 p.m.; Matsiko Children’s Choir, 2 p.m.; Skateboard competition demonstration, 2:30 and 5 p.m.; Reggae band, 3 p.m.; The Blue Armada Bandy, 5:30 p.m.; Jumpin’ Johnny Kittitas, 6 p.m.

• Community picnic: Noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the MultiCare clinic. Hosted by the city.
