Maple Valley Creative Arts Council member, Arlene Sudol, will be the next exhibitor at the Creative Arts Center beginning with an opening night reception at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25.

Born in Brooklyn, Sudol has lived in the Maple Valley-Covington area for the past 20 years. Sudol has been involved in education and is presently as a guest teacher in two local school districts.

Sudol’s medium is gouauche, watercolor-mixed media.

Her playful works of fantasy illustrate a sense of wonder and calm. Her motifs consist of “the home, a sanctuary where I feel most safe and able to be myself. I love the wind because it is so mysterious how it can be felt, but not seen. Wind often brings about change. Flowers are as beautiful as precious jewels and their perfection is heaven’s way of reminding us that there is a higher power that loves us dearly. The natural world abounds with spirits of all kinds. Like the wind, hardly anyone can see them; although, I for one, believe them to be very real. Though, of course, not in the usual scientific sense.”

The Maple Valley Creative Arts Council is hosting Sudol in her first show at the Creative Arts Center.
