Wholehearted support for MultiCare’s hospital plan in Covington | Letter

On August 5, the state Department of Health will hold a hearing to determine the feasibility of MultiCare’s proposal to build a 58 bed hospital in Covington. I wholeheartedly support this plan for a number of reasons.

On August 5, the state Department of Health will hold a hearing to determine the feasibility of MultiCare’s proposal to build a 58 bed hospital in Covington. I wholeheartedly support this plan for a number of reasons. Currently those of us living in the East Hill, Covington, Maple Valley and Black Diamond area must travel fairly congested roads to access inpatient health care whether for ourselves or for a loved one. Convenience is crucial when tending to medical needs and a medical center centrally located in Covington will be a much needed addition to the area. MultiCare’s intent to include the highly respected and much needed pediatric services of Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital within the proposed Medical Center is a huge benefit to the many young families residing here. Finally, MultiCare’s reputation for excellence provides a measure of confidence knowing that the same care will be available to all of us on an in-patient basis.

The Covington MultiCare Clinic has been a good neighbor for a number of years not only by offering respected medical services but also by supporting a broad range of community events and festivals for all to enjoy. I urge you now to offer your support of our good neighbor by sending a letter of support for the medical center to the Department of Health or by voicing that support at the scheduled hearing at the Kent branch of the King County Library on August 5 beginning at noon.
