There was a wage survey presented to the city council Oct. 22. The purpose of the survey was to establish that Covington city employees were paid close to or more than employees of seven target cities. Although this is to the employees benefit, it may not be the best outcome for the taxpayers. A quick look at the information presented in the survey shows that Covington spends a lot more money in the Human Resources department than most of the target cities. Most of the target cities do not have both a HR Director and HR Analyst.  Covington does have both a HR Director and a HR Analyst. The total of wages and benefits for these two positions is over $200,000 a year. Considering the size of Covington, this does seem like too much money spent for this service. Especially since it is considerably more than the other cities in the survey.
