Maple Valley Touchdown Booster Club, representing Tahoma senior high school football, endorses the re-election of Tami Henkel to Tahoma School Board Position 1. Tami has served on the school board for six years, most recently as the board financial representative. Tami has an extensive background in accounting, which has served her well in her position. She is also the board representative for Tahoma High School and Lake Wilderness Elementary and has served as the representative for Cedar River Middle School. Tami has served on or is currently serving on the following district committees: Calendar Committee, Communities that Care, Community Relations Committee, Technical Advisory Committee and Careers in Technical Education advisory board. Tami also volunteers in classrooms one day a week at Lake Wilderness Elementary to stay in touch with the concerns of parents, teachers, support staff and administrators in the district.

In addition to being personally rewarding, working in the classrooms keeps her closely connected to what is going on in the daily life of the district, and in the lives of the students.

Tami is deeply dedicated to her role on the board and willingly gives above and beyond the time it takes to serve well. Along with attending board meetings, workshops and committee meetings, Tami makes it a priority to attend music programs, sporting events, open houses, plays, curriculum nights and award ceremonies throughout the district. By attending such a wide variety of events, Tami is able to appreciate that Tahoma students have many different interests and skills that the school board should support. Tami believes that the curriculum in Tahoma School District is second to none. Tami is devoted to serving on the Tahoma School Board and would like to continue to be a part of the endeavor of supporting Tahoma students and preparing them for their future.

Based on experience, we have found Tami to be a active listener who makes unbiased decisions taking into account all of the facts and information provided to her. Tami’s decisions as a board member are made with only the best interests of the students and community in mind. At her core, Tami is deeply committed to serving the Tahoma School District with fairness and objectivity.
