Editor’s note: Wayne Snoey is a Covington City Council member, but he wrote the following letter as a private citizen.
I am supporting Pat Sullivan for re-election to the House of Representatives (47th District). I have known Pat for the last 10 years and know him to be a person who is highly dedicated to his community. Pat has a very long resume of trying to make things better for our community, starting as a PTA volunteer, Covington City Council member, mayor and as a 47th District representative. Pat has earned our respect and vote.
Pat really cares. He has worked tirelessly to promote better education opportunities to prepare our children for the realities of the global competition for jobs. He knows that we are no longer competing on a local basis. Our children and grandchildren are competing with those from many other countries where our jobs are flowing to. He knows that we all lose when our jobs flow offshore.
He has worked on many fronts for economic development. As with education and jobs, he knows that small businesses need help to grow. Small business is the backbone of our economy and Pat is working to create more opportunity through economic programs and incentives. He has been recognized and endorsed by the Association of Realtors for his support for these positive efforts.
Pat is a life-time resident of our community. He understands our needs and has sacrificed heavily to serve us. He accepts the very low, part-time income of a legislator and works full time on our behalf. His opponent, while a nice person, is a recent addition to our area and has no experience in working for us. Sure, the message from some is to toss out everyone currently in office. This is not smart thinking. With the tough challenges ahead, I want Pat in Olympia protecting our interests.
Through my long experience working on transportation, economic and children’s issues with the Legislature, I have had the opportunity to talk with many senators and representatives from throughout the state of Washington. These legislators, from both major parties, continually remind me that Pat is one of the most respected legislators in Olympia. His ability to work in a bipartisan manner for the good of our community makes him one of the most effective people in Olympia. Democrats, Republicans or Independents all recognize Pat as the “go-to” guy important to many issues. We must send him back. Please vote for Pat in the primary and the general election!
