Matt Williams is the most qualified candidate for King County District Court Judge who shares the values of his community. I am honored to write this letter in his support.

Matt works for justice in Washington and around the world. He works tirelessly as a pro-tem judge and as a law professor. He has trained over 1,000 attorneys and judges in his capacity as an adjunct professor of law at Seattle University and senior program director for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.  He has trained police officers and law enforcement personnel at the Washington State Patrol Academy and the Criminal Justice Training Commission.

Throughout his 27 years of practicing law, Matt has served as a pro-tem judge in both King and Pierce Counties, prosecutor, defense attorney, mediator and an arbitrator.  This unique background gives him the balance to see cases from all sides. Matt is the only candidate in this race to receive the top rating of “Exceptionally Well Qualified” from the King County Bar Association as well as four separate judicial rating organizations.

He has been endorsed by both the assistant chief presiding judge of the King County district courts and the assistant chief presiding judge of the King County courts, people who know what it takes to do the job right.

Matt serves as a volunteer in his church, the Auburn community, schools and volunteers his time to work with access-to-justice advocates around the country. The U.S. Justice Department has been fortunate to have Matt act as a volunteer teaching seminars and helping to develop justice systems in emerging democratic nations.

He is the only candidate with the experience we need in our courts.
