Two letters in the Sept. 13 issue expressed opposing views very nicely and illustrate why this race for mayor is so important to more than Black Diamond residents. It’s easy to see the underlying motives of those who support Mayor Olness and YarrowBay. They are part of the crowd who continuously chant, “growth is inevitable” and, “you can’t stop progress,” etc. The other group is saying, “not so fast” and, “is this really progress or just more relentless jammed-together-all-the-same-stick-and-wood, bland-colored housing development?”
Here is my answer: what you do in Black Diamond will have a very significant negative impact on Highway 169, Kent-Kangley, Ravensdale-Hobart Road and many others. You know this, we all know this. So why not try to prevent a big problem when everyone sees it? Good luck to those of you who are willing to fight hard against the forces of greed who rape our land, take the money and leave us with all the problems.
