If you really knew me you’d know that the Be The Change Club at Tahoma High School, which I am the advisor of, worked hard to raise money two years ago to pay for our first Challenge Day.
We are again working tirelessly to secure financing to pay for this year’s Challenge Day coming Jan. 5, 2011 to Tahoma High School. Be The Change Club will be organizing a silent auction to help raise funds for this important endeavor. Challenge Day has made a difference in the lives of many students. Students who attended two years ago at the high school felt that all students should experience Challenge Day for themselves, and they’re right. Like many schools, our goal is to offer Challenge Day at Tahoma High School every year. This program demonstrates the possibility of love and connection through the celebration of diversity, truth, and full expression and has been successful in uniting students by breaking down barriers for twenty plus years throughout four countries. The show “If You Really Knew Me” which began in mid-July on MTV has finally ignited the buzz here in Maple Valley.
The Challenge Day auction will be held Saturday Nov. 6 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Tahoma High School in the commons. The cost will be $3 to attend. Appetizers and beverages will be provided along with more information on Challenge Day. Tickets can be purchased at the cashier’s office at Tahoma High. Some of the items to be auctioned off will be a Trager smoker/grill, T- Bird hockey tickets, A beauty basket from Daniel Ross Salon, Imperial Fitness and Training – one month of training, four weeks at Imperial Boot Camp, Loft Hair Salon gift items, Tacoma Rainier Tickets and more. We will gladly accept any donations that businesses or individuals would like to offer in support of this very important event. For more information about the auction or to make a donation contact Cindi Riess at Tahoma High 425-413-6366.
