After reading the June 29th article, “Black Diamond MPD Closed Record Hearings face challenging beginning” I couldn’t help but write in support of the proposed projects.
My name is Ginger Passarelli Senecal and along with my husband, Harvey, we have owned Mama Passarelli’s in Black Diamond for more than six years now. Over that time, Mama’s has been my pride and joy. We have worked tirelessly to keep our business vibrant and to also contribute to the community that we also call home.
Many of you know I volunteer often here in this community and region, and it is not for lack of hobbies. I love this small town and I want it and my restaurant to thrive for years to come. It is this passion for our community that has compelled me to write.
Like many of you, I have been paying close attention to the two proposed master planned developments in Black Diamond. I am doing everything I can to stay in business in this down economy. I know many of you are in the same position. That is why I support this opportunity for growth. I look forward to a growing community that is planned out smartly, and I know there are a number of residents that agree with me.
I have my restaurant in Black Diamond because I love the people here. Those of you who live in our small town understand that we have a neighborhood mentality and we help each other and chip in where we need to. I believe the two proposals allow this community to flourish to its full potential. It isn’t a secret that the city of Black Diamond needs more funding for services. I am a big supporter of our police and fire services. New development will grow our tax base in this town.
Without planned growth, I see businesses continuing to close and families continuing to have to travel sometimes over an hour to find a job. I urge the City Council to consider the benefits of approving the MPDs instead of only listening to the few who are complaining the loudest. We need to do everything we can to ensure Black Diamond remains a community we all want to be in for a long time, and I see a bright future with these projects.
I would like to thank the City Council for all their hard work in our community and their continued commitment to it.
