Sean Stewart, Maple Valley Rotary president, presented Ginger Passerelli, the founder of The Soup Ladies, a check for $1,000 towards the purchase of a larger generator for their mobile kitchen.

Passerelli was the guest speaker at Maple Valley Rotary on Jan. 22 and provided an update on the work of The Soup Ladies and Stew Dudes in our community and their involvement in Lakewood after the loss of four police officers. When she expressed the need for a bigger generator, a hat was passed and rotary members raised an additional $500 to help meet the need. Maple Valley Rotary initially helped in the procurement of their mobile soup kitchen by donating over $27,000 from their 2008 rotary auction fund-a-need.
