King County is offering free inspections of damaged buildings in unincorporated areas to help speed the repair process for residents, officials said.
County inspectors will evaluate structural damage and assess whether a permit is required to proceed with repairs. The service usually carries a fee of $320.
For minor repairs, permits can be issued at the Department of Development and Environmental Services (DDES) offices in Renton at 900 Oakesdale Avenue SW.
DDES director Stephanie Warden said “it is small consolation” for homeowners and businesses “faced with recovering from major storm damage, but we hope” the no-fee inspections help the recovery process.
