The Tahoma Bears grappled to the top of the South Puget Sound League, North Division subdistrict wrestling tournament Saturday at Auburn High.

The Tahoma Bears grappled to the top of the South Puget Sound League, North Division subdistrict wrestling tournament Saturday at Auburn High.

The Bears posted a team championship score of 394.2, following by Auburn at 266.5 and Kentwood at third with 241.4 and Kentlake fourth with 198.5.

The young Bears won championships in five weight classes with three juniors and one sophomore.

Steven Hopkins, a Tahoma junior, won at 119 9-6. Jesse Vaughn, a junior, won at the 125 weight 13-3. Dan Haniger, also a junior, won at the 135 weight 20-6. At the 145 weight junior Tanner Mjelde won 8-0.

Matt Hopkins at 160, a sophomore, pushed it to five for the Bears with his 4-2 victory.

Rueben Navejas, a senior at Kentwood, won the 112 weight,

Kentlake junior Colton Marlowe took the 130 class 8-5.
